come learn, laugh, and plan with Rev. Krystal Jakosky

let me ask you a question.

What would happen if you died tomorrow?

We all know we have a limited time on this Earth. We live the ups and downs while connecting with a tremendous number of souls and loved ones. We enjoy the opportunities that come and endure the challenges as well.

We all know it will eventually come to an end, but how many of us have planned for it? When we pass to the next adventure, who will be navigating everything you leave behind? And what kind of preparations have you made?

The Last Laugh Cafe is a safe and supported space to learn and tackle the myriad of paperwork and wishes that make the transition easier for our loved ones.

During the Last Laugh Cafe, you’ll learn, laugh, and leave with your wishes in writing.

“The information in this class is invaluable!”

Do any of these sound familiar?

  • “That’s not going to happen for a while. I’ve got plenty of time.”
  • “There’s so much to do, I don’t know where to start!”
  • “I don’t want my personal information out there, and I don’t know where to go that doesn’t require it.”
  • “I believe you need a lawyer for that, and I can’t afford it.”
  • “Don’t be morbid.”
  • “If I’m planning for when that may happen, I’m just inviting it to. I’ll do it when I’m older and ready.”
  • “I don’t have anything of value, so why should I do anything? It’s not a big deal.”
  • “I’ve started it, which is better than some. I’ll finish it later.”

The Reality

None of us are guaranteed a tomorrow. We have today—this moment—an opportunity to love, connect, and plan. We can try to hide from it, but the reality is we’ll all pass to the other side eventually.

Let’s take the weight of planning off the “To-Do” list and place it in the “Done!” column. I promise you’ll feel better once you do.

Let me guide you, step by step, toward a solid plan to rest in peace.

Pull up a chair! Four classes, four pieces of your plan. In each one, we learn first, then roll up our sleeves and do the paperwork together, so every class ends with something moved to the “Done!” column. Start with whichever class is calling to you.

one.

The Essentials

the big stuff, in good hands.

Together, we’ll explore the papers that let someone you trust speak for you if you can’t—in Colorado, that’s a medical durable power of attorney—plus the basics of a living will. Next comes your “where everything lives” list, so the right person can find what they need. We’ll work on all of it right there in the room, and you’ll head home with a clear next step for anything that’s left.

two.

Your Medical Line in the Sand

your care, your call.

When hard choices come, your wishes can lead the way. We’ll talk through CPR, ventilators, feeding tubes, and comfort care versus continued treatment, and get clear on what quality of life means to you. Then we’ll put it all in your own words, so the people caring for you know what you want. You’ll leave with your medical wishes written down and ready to take to your doctor.

three.

The Exit Plan(Practical Edition)

a send-off that feels like you.

Burial or cremation, green options, a memorial, a funeral, or a celebration of life—this is your chance to choose how you’d like to be honored. We’ll look at cost ranges, name the people who’ll make decisions, and round up the little details, from the music you’d like played to your digital accounts. With your exit plan on paper, your loved ones can spend their energy remembering you.

four.

Conversations and Coffee

bring your loved ones in on the plan.

Your plan becomes a gift when the people you love know it exists and understand what you want. Over coffee we’ll practice the conversations—who needs to know what and how to bring it up—while also drafting the pieces that make those talks stick: your Letter of Intent / Ethical Will and a simple plan for who receives copies. By the end you’ll have language to begin and paperwork started.

The Experience

  • We begin by learning together: what matters, why it matters, and the questions worth asking.
  • Then we do the work, with forms in hand and support right beside you.
  • A confidential chatbot is available for the questions you’d rather ask privately.
  • Snacks, coffee, and tea will help fuel us as we tackle the topics.
  • Small groups ensure a more connected and quiet space to ask questions and gain clarity.
  • Each class stands on its own, so come to one or all four.
